This was a high-end sapele timber orangery project that earned a particular interest from us. Building The Orangery
The first step to any project that involves replacing an old build is to make sure all elements of the pre-existing structure are removed entirely, allowing a secure, reliable space for the new build. Once the conservatory was dismantled, we prepared to build an authentic hardwood orangery using Sapele wood as standard. These timber products, which included a set of internal French doors and three fixed windows, were all refined to offer an exceptional level of durability and style, available in the client’s requested finish.
In addition, a three pane bifold door was installed, which allows for the space leading into the exterior of the property to open up without requiring swing space, connecting the inside of the home with the outside. Coupled with the roof lantern, this floods the interior space with natural light, creating a welcoming environment for any guests at the property. All glass features are double glazed with Argon glass to ensure maximum thermal efficiency, and Ovolo moulded profiles are used with all windows and doors.
Finishing Touches
Making sure the orangery offered the highest standard of security possible for this property was always a priority. All windows and doors were equipped with a fully espagnolette shoot bolt locking system designed to withstand a range of burglary techniques, and all profile frames are reinforced to absorb physical force. Our unique weatherproofing system also ensures that leaks are prevented, and timber is preserved from rotting or mould damage. In addition, flush windows and doors come with double weather gaskets.
The completed project was a stunning new space for the client to make new memories with loved ones and enjoy life at home. The self cleaning glass panels and outstanding durability of the structure mean that very little aftercare will be required to keep this orangery in peak condition. All timber used in the structure received three full coats of Teknos Microporous Treatment to guarantee a remarkably long lifespan without requiring excessive maintenance. Spotlights, plug sockets and a radiator are the last details to be added to power this room and connect it to the rest of the property. We were very proud that the bespoke installation was suited perfectly for the building, enhancing the existing aesthetic, and adding a classy touch!
