Edwardian Conservatory With Thermally Efficient Roof

Written by Paul Davies

At The Little Conservatory Company, we’re passionate about creating bespoke living spaces that work perfectly for you and your property – and this project is a great example of that! Featuring a stunning new-built Edwardian conservatory with a thermally efficient roof, this project was designed to provide homeowners with usable and versatile living space all year round.

If you have an idea for your own home improvement project, please get in touch! We’d be more than happy to discuss your options and help you bring your vision to life. And, because our team are multitalented, you can benefit from getting all the services you need under one roof, simplifying and streamlining your project.

Understanding the homeowners’ needs

As always, this project began with a discussion with the homeowners to find out their preferences and requirements for this space. We even utilised software to superimpose an image of the conservatory over the top of a photo of the existing home – this tool allowed the homeowners to visualise what the conservatory would look like once installed and choose a conservatory roof style that suited the rest of their home.

Building a solid foundation

The initial stages involved laying a damp-proof course, followed by the construction of the base of the conservatory using blockwork and brickwork. Once this was completed by our team, we began to install the windows and roofing system.

Thermally-efficient roofing system

A key aspect of this project was creating a space usable throughout the year. To achieve this, we installed the Ultraframe UltraRoof 380, a high-performance roofing system renowned for its exceptional thermal efficiency. This innovative roof keeps the conservatory warm in winter and cool in summer, minimising reliance on heating and cooling systems, leading to energy cost savings.

A sophisticated and versatile design, this Edwardian-style roof perfectly complemented the existing property. An additional benefit of the UltraRoof 380 is its inherent strength, eliminating the need for unsightly tie bars.

Unobstructed views & garden access

Simple yet elegant white Kӧmmerling c70 framed windows with a chamfered design were installed, complementing the existing property.

These windows echo the home’s existing aesthetics, and the abundance of glazing ensures a light and airy space. We also installed a set of French doors to create a seamless transition between the conservatory and the garden, blurring the lines between indoor and outdoor living.
